Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department

The Pomeroy Fire Department and Ambulance has been working hard to ensure that the area they cover will have the best emergency equipment and personnal available. Pomeroy has volunteer firefighters who are on-call 24 hours a day to handle all the fire and other emergencies.
The Fire Department is completely staffed by volunteers. They are certified as Firefighter 1 through the Iowa Fire Service Training Program. They cover structural fires, EMS calls, hazardous material spills, grass fires and service calls. Local 1372 Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of Pomeoy, rural and city and the west side of Twin Lakes. Hazematt Operations through Fire Service Training Bureau. Funding for the Fire Department comes from the City of Pomeroy, the Pomeroy Rural Fire Department/Butler Township, the fire department's own fundraising efforts and the great support of donors in and outside the community.

The Fire Department is in the process of updating their equipment and fire station. The Department continues to seek opportunities to raise the funds needed to purchase these items. Check back to this site periodically for more information on fundraising events

The Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department wants to thank the people who have already contributed to the department. Any and all donations are appreciated. Donations can be submitted to City Hall; Attention Fire Department.

Pomeroy Fire Department
is asking for donations of can goods, perishable and nonperishable items. They will also be accepting toys for
ages 0 - 10 years. City Hall will be one drop-off place.
All donated items will be going to "The Giving Tree Program" sponsored by the Calhoun County Family Development Center for distribution to eligible families. The Fire Department is asking anyone who would like to donate to have items delivered on or before December 10th.

100 Children attended the Volunteer Fire Department Easter Egg Hunt at the Care Center on Saturday, April 11, 2009

The Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank all that donated their time and money towards the success of the Easter Egg Hunt this year.

 
The Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department held their breakfast fund-raiser at the Community Building in Pomeroy on March 8th.
 
 
With donations from the community and other fund-raising events the Fire Department was able to give each child that attended the Easter Egg Hunt 2009 a prize. Other big prizes were also given out. Three lucky winners received bikes.

hunting efforts. A few lucky egg hunters
were awarded brand new bikes.
