The First United Church of Christ 209 N. Ontario Street
On February 1, 1879, seventeen men met to reorganize this congretation. The articles of incorporation were filed in 1881. the German Evangelical Synod of North america provided ministers for the new church. The chruch was extensively damaged in the 1893 cyclone, an abandoned building was donated for worship and later used as tempororay hospital for the injured. Former First United Church of Christ on Ontario Street
concerning the German language being used in the church.The chruch was destroyed by fire on Dec. 31, 1917, and the new church was dedicated May 1919. The new parsonage was built in 1938. The last service was held June 6, 2006. Information provided by the Pomeroy Historical Society 2009 Calendar
