| APPROVAL
OF AGENDA: C Meyer made a motion, second by R Bachman to
approve the Agenda. Roll call: Ayes: R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer
and B Meyer Nays: None. Motion Carried. |
| CONSENT
AGENDA: S Juilfs made a motion, second
by B Meyer to approve the Consent Agenda: Financials, Minutes, Requests,
Reports, Permits and Bill List. Ayes: R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer
and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried.

| Water/Sewer/Streets:
Water/Sewer/Streets: City Clerk gave an update on the 2010 street
project, K Rhea has a meeting Thursday with the engineer, and he will
be giving City Hall a schedule of the future steps needed. Maintenance
Shed’s electricity is 95% complete. K Rhea needs to finish the
office before the electrical work can be completed. K Rhea was unable
to locate used parts for the City Truck, so he is to find out what
the City could sell the truck for with and/or without fixing it. The
City purchased a used plow truck from IDOT. B Meyer made a motion
seconded by C Meyer to sign an agreement with Westrum Leak Detection
for 3 years of computerized leak detection surveys. Ayes: R Bachman,
S Juilfs, C Meyer and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried. The update
on the entrance sign was tabled until the next meeting. |
Fire
Dept: The Fire Dept. submitted a list of equipment that they
wished to purchase before the end of the year, June 30th. C Meyer
made a motion seconded by R Bachman to purchase the listed equipment
for a total of $785.22. Ayes: R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer and B Meyer
Nays: None Motion Carried.
Parks/Cemetery: Motion was made by C Meyer seconded by S Juilfs to
purchase flowers for the pots at the shelter house and at the cemetery.
Ayes: R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried.

| Nuisance
Properties: Chief Gerdes and the City Clerk drove around
to inspect nuisance properties in town and letters will be mailed
out next week. |
| Police
Dept: There were 18 calls and one dog citation and all but
one citation has been paid thus far. Chief Gerdes announced that she
has completed the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Certification exam
to become an Iowa certified officer. |
| City
Hall: The City Facebook page now has 193 fans. B Meyer gave
an update on the baseball field. He talked with the school and they
like the idea of changing the baseball field into a softball field
since there will no longer be any baseball games in town with the
combining of schools with Pocahontas. C Meyer made a motion seconded
by B Meyer to approve the cigarette permit for Casey’s. Ayes:
R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried.
Motion was made by C Meyer seconded by S Juilfs to hold a public hearing
on May 25th at 7:00P.M. to amend the fiscal year 2010 budget. Ayes:
R Bachman, S Juilfs, C Meyer and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried.
Motion was made by C Meyer seconded by R Bachman to have the City
Clerk attend the Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute in July to
take her last class for certification. Ayes: R Bachman, S Juilfs,
C Meyer and B Meyer Nays: None Motion Carried. |
